It was chilled days of October when we unexpectedly planned the Kerala trip, we all were craving a vacation but couldn't decide the place when suddenly we saw the advertisement on TV about Kerala: Gods own country.
But due to some unfortunate events we had to cancel the plan, can you believe it? I had already planned everything in my head and dreams of dancing in Kerala. I had already watched like a lot of video on YouTube about Kerala and now this? How can god be so cruel?
After a lot of struggle we reschedule it to January, finally we all were very excited to visit Gods own country.
After every planning and research it stuck us that how are we gonna communicate with the people in Kerala! There were many things that were indicating us to cancel the trip although we knew Kerala has the highest literacy rate and communication won't be a problem but still but we were having second thought about it.
Later we decided to add Munnar and Allepy too in our itinerary, as it would be a shame if we miss those places while travelling in Kerala
Soon after waiting for like eternity, finally the day arrived, it was 9 in the night we left for the flight, God knows why I feel so insecure at the airport, why do I feel more like awkward and uneasy like an anxiety attack is about to happen,
I was excited and a lot nervous, i don't know why maybe because all the passenger in the airport looks like from the family of Oberoi and Bansal, but soon the nightmare was over, soon we landed in our respective seats and were ready to fly, this vibe hits different when you already know how the trip is going to be as the we had a Hell of a Start.
I felt restless as there was turbulence during the journey but all the images of Kerala were flooding in front of my eyes which kept me calm and I couldn't wait anymore to land in Kerala and explore it
We landed in Kochi airport at 2 in the night, as we exited the airport, our eyes were shining bright with excitement, Kochi airport was much better than Mumbai according to me and the ambiance was great. To be honest while stepping out i was expecting Kochi to be quite and free place as it was midnight but to be surprised it was too busy and full of chaos, but I was overwhelmed with happiness and positivity.
Soon we got us cab and rushed to our hotel as we were dizzy and exhausted.
Later in the morning we decided to pay a short visit to explore fort Kochi, as we were scheduled to leave for Munnar in the night.
As the name suggest fort Kochi, I was wondering to see a fort build in late centuries ago or something. But I was so wrong fort Kochi is not a fort basically it's a name of a city. Hahahahahahha
But fort Kochi was beautiful it's a city, it was a coastal city connected to sea.
There were cute colonies build according to Portuguese, dutch and british culture. Wandering in those street was fun and with every breath you could feel the culture and nature.
Fort kochi has a massive touch of traditional culture and heritage, which are centuries old, which attracts you.
Then we reached St. Francis Church it was fully white painted with magnificent sculpture and was in middle of a well-groomed garden.
It was the first European church ever build in India and Vasco da Gama`s body was buried inside that Church, this is what the guide told us. And i though, Vasco da Gama first came to Gujarat or goa coast? What did you think?? Hahahahaha.
The best thing to do in Kochi is to wander off in the quaint lanes of fort Kochi, as it feels amazing and the building are really old school and resembles of Portuguese and dutch culture, covered with massive palm trees and fascinating local people.
When i say this i meant it, i was running like crazy and smiling towards strangers in the street, i wonder what would have the local people might think about it. Hahahahahah
We even saw some art galleries and I didn't understand any of them, as they were all related to Jewish culture.
And there was a Jewish town in a part of fort Kochi, as a long time ago a major of jews lived there but unfortunately now they are limited, we even spot a few of them but we are still confused if they were jews, Portuguese or dutch. Hahahahaha
In all those busy crowd, the only thing my eyes were searching was zoya's face or maybe, I was just hallucinating ( don't know who zoya is, well read my varanasi blog).
It's not that i haven't seen someone prettier than zoya, but i guess its her simplicity and childish behavior that lures me towards her, but soon i let go of her thoughts.
It was fun recording the length of roads by walking over them and counting palm trees. With each breath you could feel something different.
Fort kochi has a lot of street art to offer to its viewers, they are so beautiful and magnificent, and will make you stop and admire them,
There were many small shops around the side of roads of fort Kochi, selling different artifacts, cotton, handmade souvenirs, they were beautiful but out of our purchasing power.
Fort Kochi had a lot of colorful cafes which serves Keralan specialties and when I say this I didn't meant idili, dosa and Appam (Appam is a type of pancake, made with fermented rice batter and coconut milk,). Hahahahah
There are many historical building and monuments in fort Kochi with remarkable architecture
We then took some rest on the beach of fort Kochi to witness the beauty of sunset.
There is something special about beaches and sunsets of Kerala as we could feel it in our hearts as we saw golden stretched beaches for miles, as far as you could see.
There were kids playing football at a distance, soon we join them but they were exceptionally well.
After losing to them and being completely exhausted, I was gasping for breath and then we again sat with kids, they were completely laughing at us but seeing them laughing, a happiness ran across my face too and the sound of busy palm trees and sea, it was like melody for our ears
As the sun was setting down we could spot fisherman returning to the beach. Ahh it was so peaceful, it felt like never leave that beach, a mesmerizing view.
Imagine being exhausted and sitting on the best beach sipping coconut water and enjoying the sunset! Do you feel me?
No doubt Kerala is a Gods own country and has a lot to offer,
Later that night around 2am we left for Munnar, as it was 126 kms and we were more excited to find out what Munnar holds for us……………
(Stay tuned for part two)
